UFC officials announced that Francis Ngannou will face former UFC title challenger Alistair Overeem at UFC 218 in Detroit on Dec. 2.
Ngannou (10-1) was slated to face Junior Dos Santos at UFC 215 before the Brazilian was flagged for a potential anti-doping violation. The French fighter is currently 5-0 in the UFC with all wins coming by stoppage. Overeem (43-15) heads into this matchup off back-to-back wins over Mark Hunt and Fabricio Werdum. The former Strikeforce champion has won six of his last seven fights.
Abdul Razak Alhassan faces Sabah Homasi at UFC 218 in Detroit Also announced for the Detroit card is a welterweight matchup pitting Abduel Razak Alhassan faces Sabah Homasi. Alhassan (7-1) is coming off a split decision loss to Omari Akhmedov, which dropped his UFC record to 1-1. The 32-year-old has never gone the distance in his career. Homasi (11-6) hasn’t fought since August 2016 when he was knocked out by Tim Means at UFC 202. The 28-year-old has won three of his last four fights. Here’s an updated look at the card.
