UFC 216 main card plus Cerrone vs Till opening betting odds

UFC 216 takes place in two weeks (Saturday, October 7, 2017) in Las Vegas, Nevada, so it’s time to at least open up betting lines for the rest of the main card.

The main event interim lightweight title fight between Tony Ferguson and Kevin Lee already has odds released, but the newly added co-main event flyweight title bout between champion Demetrious Johnson and challenger Ray Borg is ready to roll. Johnson was supposed to fight Borg at UFC 215 this past month, but Borg was pulled from the bout during fight week due to an illness. Thankfully the illness wasn’t severe and the bout has been rescheduled for one pay-per-view later. Johnson is looking to break Anderson Silva’s title defense record with a victory, while Borg is obviously hoping to play spoiler.

Also on tap is a heavyweight attraction as former champion Fabricio Werdum takes on Derrick Lewis. Both Werdum and Lewis are coming off disappointing losses. Werdum was defeated by Alistair Overeem via majority decision this past July while Lewis was TKO’d by Mark Hunt in the main event of UFC Fight Night: New Zealand this past June. Both men are still among the elite at heavyweight and a victory could put either right back into title contention.

Filling out the rest of the main card, Paige VanZant takes on Jessica Eye in a flyweight contest. With UFC crowning an inaugural women’s flyweight champion on the current season of The Ultimate Fighter, it’s time to start building up contenders in the division. VanZant is moving up from strawweight, citing weight cut issues, while Eye is returning to the division she dominated from 2011-2013. Eye was the number one ranked flyweight when she signed with the UFC, but the promotion didn’t have the division…until now.

Last but not least, Beniel Dariush takes on Evan Dunham in what expects to be a competitive lightweight contest. Dunham has experienced a career resurgence and is currently riding a four-fight win streak, although he has not competed in a year due to injuries. Dariush was flying high until Edson Barboza knocked him out cold with a brutal flying knee in his last bout this past March. The winner of this fight will likely earn a top 10 bout in the future.

Don’t forget UFC Fight Night 118 in Gdansk, Poland just two weeks after UFC 216. Donald Cerrone returns in the main event to take on undefeated Darren Till. Till most recently outworked Bojan Velickovic earlier this month and he’s making a Cerrone-esque quick turnaround to battle “Cowboy.” Cerrone lost a thrilling decision against former champion Robbie Lawler this past July. He’s hoping he can return to contention by handing Till the first loss of his professional career.

MMA oddsmaker Nick Kalikas opened the betting odds for these future fights today at Several Bookmakers.
