UFC officials confirmed an initial report from MMA Today that women’s strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk will defend her title against Rose Namajunas at UFC 217 on Nov. 4 in New York City. In addition, the promotion also announced that Mickey Gall will take on Randy Brown in a welterweight affair.
Jedrzejczyk (14-0) looks to defend her championship for sixth time as she’s got 8-0 in the UFC. The 30-year-old is coming off a unanimous decision victory over Jessica Andrade at UFC 211 in May. Namajunas (6-3) has won four of her last five fights, including a submission win over Michelle Waterson in April. The 25-year-old was a finalist on Season 20 of The Ultimate Fighter.
Gall (4-0) hasn’t competed since December where he subitted Sage Northcutt at UFC on FOX 22. The 25-year-old has won all four of his fights by submission. Brown (9-2) had his two-fight win streak snapped in his last fight when he lost by unanimous decision to Belal Muhammad at UFC 208 in February. The former Ring of Combat champion has never lost back-to-back fights in his career. Here’s an updated look at the card.
