Finnish promotion Cage will hold an event this weekend with Cage 40. The event will take place Saturday, September 9, 2017 at the Cultural Centre in Helsinki, Finland.
Headlining the show will be a featherweight fight between Finnish veteran Joni Salovaara and Portuguese fighter Victor Marinho. Salovarra (17-9) has been competing professionally for over 10 years and has won three of his last four bouts. Mainho (10-4) began his career on a serious hot streak, but has cooled off of late, losing three of his last four including two TKO stoppages.
Every bout on the card features at least one fighter from Finland.
But that’s not all.
Absolute Championship Berkut will also hold an event this weekend with ACB 69: Young Eagles 22. The event will take place Saturday, September 9, 2017 at the Almaty Arena in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
Headlining the show is a battle between undefeated Kazakhstani featherweight Arman Ospanov and veteran Brazilian Thiago Silva. Ospanov (8-0) has been fighting professionally since 2012 and has attempted to branch out with recent cancelled fights for both World Series of Fighting and Legacy. Silva (12-5) is a veteran of Jungle Fight and Shooto Brazil. He enters the bout on a four-fight winning streak. Of both fighters’ 20 combined wins, only one has been by decision.
Also on tap will be a middleweight battle between Roland Cambal and Igor Svirid. Their records are similar overall, but Cambal (11-3-1) has won seven of his last eight fights while Svirid (11-5) has lost three of his last four.
The only American on the card is Cory Hendricks, who will take on Evgeny Egemberdiev in a light heavyweight bout. Hendricks (3-1) competed on The Ultimate Fighter season 23. He was a semifinalist on the show but lost at the TUF 23 Finale against Josh Stansbury via unanimous decision. Egemberdiev (7-0) began his professional career with a decision victory over Jeff Monson. He has finished his last four opponents.
