Dana White Tuesday Night Contender Series Event 7 took place this past Tuesday (August 22, 2017). The card was headlined by a light heavyweight bout between former TUF competitor Anton Berzin and Kennedy Nzechukwu. Closing odds are courtesy of Several Bookmakers.
Here’s a quick recap of each of those fights…
Favorites that Won Benito Lopez and Steven Peterson put on a “Fight of the Night” performance in an action-packed, back-and-forth fight that went that distance. Lopez was awarded a split decision by the judges, winning rounds one and three of the bout on two of three scorecards. Lopez closed as a slight -130 favorite with Peterson the +110 underdog. With the victory, Lopez was awarded an UFC contract.
After a tough first round in which he had to defend several choke attempts, Joby Sanchez took over in the second round, beating up a tired JP Buys to win by second-round TKO. Sanchez closed as large -350 chalk while Buys was a big +290 dog. It was the second win for Sanchez as part of the Tuesday Night Contender Series, and with this victory, he was awarded a UFC contract.
Underdogs that Won Kennedy Nzechukwu recovered well from a poor first round to outpoint Anton Berzin and win a decision in the main event of the evening. Nzechukwu pulled off the biggest upset on the card as a +270 underdog while Berzin closed at -330.
Mike Santiago landed some beautiful punches along the cage, knocking Mark Cherico to the canvas to win his 11th win in a row and earn his 15th first-round stoppage victory. Santiago closed as a small +125 dog while Cherico was a -145 fave.
Jordan Espinoza survived an early upkick to land a kick of his own and followed it up with a darce choke to pick up a first-round submission over Nick Urso. Espinoza closed as a +205 underdog while Urso was a -245 favorite.
