MMA Odds and Ends for Friday: Anderson Silva vs. Kelvin Gastelum slated for UFC Fight Night: Shanghai

FloCombat’s Damon Martin broke the news Thursday that former middleweight champion Anderson Silva will face Kelvin Gastelum in the main event of UFC Fight Night Shaghai on November 25th in China.

Silva (34-8, 1 No-Contest) hasn’t competed since February where he took home a somewhat controversial decision over Derek Brunson. The victory snapped the 42-year-old’s five-fight winless skid. Silva was initially slated to face Gastelum in June, however, the former TUF winner tested positive for marijuana.

Gastelum (13-3, 1 NC) had his three-fight unbeaten streak snapped in his last bout, losing via submission to former middleweight champion Chris Weidman at UFC on FOX 25 in July. The 25-year-old will be competing in his fourth straight fight at 185 pounds despite his desire to return to the welterweight division.

Jan Blachowicz faces Devin Clark at UFC Fight Night 118

UFC officials announced that Jan Blachowicz will take on Devin Clark at UFC Fight Night 118 at the Ergo Arena in Gdansk, Poland on October 21st. Blachowicz (19-7) has lost four of his last five fights, including a majority-decision loss to Patrick Cummins at UFC 210 in April. The 34-year-old is just 2-4 in the UFC. Clark (8-1) is a former RFA light heavyweight champion, and he has gone 2-1 in the Octagon. “Brown Bear” is coming off a unanimous-decision victory over Jake Collier at UFC on FOX 24 in April.
