UFC on FOX 25 Closing Odds and Betting Results

UFC on FOX 25 took place Saturday (July 22, 2017) in Uniondale, New York. The card was headlined by a top ten middleweight clash between former champion Chris Weidman and rising contender Kelvin Gastelum. Closing odds are courtesy of Several Bookmakers.

Here’s a quick recap of each of those fights…

Favorites that Won

Jimmie Rivera nearly finished Thomas Almeida in the first round two times, but he had to hold on to win a decision in an entertaining contest. Rivera closed as a -185 favorite while Almeida closed as a +160 underdog in defeat. 

Eryk Anders landed a series of left hands that put away veteran Rafael Natal in the first round to score a knockout. It’s a tremendous debut for the middleweight newcomer and has him poised to be a real prospect in this division. Anders closed at -115 while Natal was -105 in this closely lined contest.at

Chase Sherman countered well with leg kicks and combined that with timely combinations along the cage to win a 15-minute striking match with Damian Grabowski. Sherman closed at -245 while Grabowski was +205.

Jeremy Kennedy dominated the grappling exchanges, securing takedowns in all three rounds to win an easy decision over Kyle Bochniak. Kennedy closed at -290 with the Bochniak +245.

Shane Burgos stuffed Godofredo Pepey’s takedown attempts and easily out-landed him on the feet, countering wonderfully to earn a decision and get his third straight win in the Octagon. Burgos closed as the biggest favorite on the card at -700 while Pepey was +500.

Chris Wade was able to secure takedowns in all three rounds and had over eight minutes of top control time to earn a decision over Frankie Perez. Wade closed as a -360 favorite while Perez was +300.

Underdogs that Won

Chris Weidman returned to the win column, securing a third-round submission over Kelvin Gastelum. Weidman was dropped in the first round, but outside of that, he was able to dominate the bout. Weidman closed as a +135 underdog with Gastelum the -155 favorite. 

Darren Elkins eeked out a split decision win over Dennis Bermudez in a back-and-forth contest. Elkins closed as a +175 underdog while Bermudez was -210.

Despite being forced into a striking match, Pat Cummins was able to outwork Gian Villante, landing with volume to sneak out a split decision win. Cummins also closed at +175 with Villante -210 in defeat.

Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos countered well on the feet to win a split decision over Lyman Good in an action-packed contest. Dos Santos closed at +130 while Good was -150.

After dropping the first round, Alex Oliveira landed a devastating counter that floored Ryan LaFlare to earn a knockout and the biggest win of his UFC career. Oliveira closed at +155 with LaFlare -175.

Marlon Vera put Brian Kelleher into an awkward submission early in the first round and was able to force his opponent to tap while they were in a scramble situation. Vera closed at +195 while Kelleher was -235.  

Junior Albini made a tremendous debut in the UFC by knocking out 12th-ranked heavyweight Timothy Johnson in the opening round. Albini closed as the biggest underdog on the card to win at +240 with Johnson disappointing is backers as heavy -280. chalk.
