The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will be on Long Island, NY for the first time in promotional history this Saturday (July 22, 2017) with UFC on FOX 25: Weidman vs. Gastelum. The stacked 13-fight card is set to kick off with preliminary action on UFC Fight Pass at 4 p.m. (ET). Prelims will continue on FOX at 6 p.m., with the main card getting underway at 8 p.m. If interested in wagering on any bouts for these fight cards, all betting lines are available at Several Bookmakers.
Here are my top dogs for UFC on FOX 25…
Middleweight bout: Kelvin Gastelum (-155) vs. Chris Weidman (+145)
Gabe’s Thoughts: I think Weidman should be a -150 betting favorite heading into this five-round middleweight main event, so I see value in him at his current offering price tag of +145. He will have a size advantage over Gastelum, including a seven-inch reach edge. I believe this fight comes down to cardio. Gastelum does have the superior cardio of the two here, but I am expecting improved conditioning from Weidman and think he will have enough in the tank for five full rounds of action. I see this as being Gastelum’s first real test at middleweight, and I don’t think he should be the betting favorite. At the current odds, this is definitely a dog or pass situation, and I do like the price on the dog.
Gabe’s Call: Weidman by Unanimous Decision (48-47, 49-46, 49-46)
Gabe’s Recommended Play: Weidman (+145)
Lightweight bout: Chris Wade (-300) vs. Frankie Perez (+250)
Gabe’s Thoughts: I think this matchup is a lot closer than the betting odds currently suggest, so I see quite a bit of value in Perez at his current offering underdog price tag of +250. This is a rematch of a bout Wade previously won by split decision, and I would not say Wade has gone on to become a world beater since that fight to warrant a -300 betting line. At the current odds, I do believe Perez is the right side for a wager in what should be a closely contested battle.
Gabe’s Call: Perez by Split Decision (28-29, 29-28, 29-28)
Gabe’s Recommended Play: Perez (+250)
