LFA 17 emanates from the Grady Cole Center in Charlotte, North Carolina this Friday night (June 21, 2017) and will be televised live on AXS TV at 9 p.m. (ET). Thiago Moises headlines the card against Robert Watley for the promotion’s vacant lightweight title.
Moises (9-1) hasn’t competed since defending his RFA lightweight title in September 2016, when he defeated Zach Freeman by unanimous decision. The 22-year-old is riding a four-fight win streak and hasn’t lost since a 2015 unanimous decision setback to UFC standout Jason Knight. Meanwhile, Watley (7-1) makes his debut on AXS TV and heads into this title fight on a seven-fight win streak. The 27-year-old hasn’t lost since 2014 and is coming off a third-round TKO victory over Josh Visel at XCC 27 in February.
In the co-main event, Keith Richardson steps up on short notice to take on Tony Gravely in a bantamweight affair. Richardson (16-8) replaces the injured Dylan Cala and has put together back-to-back victories. “The Rockstar” has won 10 of his 16 fights by submission. Gravely (9-4) has lost two of his last three fights and is coming off a unanimous decision victory over Francis Healy at KOTC: Heavy Hands back in April. The 25-year-old will be making his LFA debut.
