The Ultimate Fighter 25 Finale took place Friday (July 7, 2017) in Las Vegas, Nevada. The card was headlined by a lightweight classic between newcomer Justin Gaethje and Michael Johnson. Closing odds are courtesy of Several Bookmakers.
Here’s a quick recap of each of those fights…
Favorites that Won Jesse Taylor ragdolled Dhiego Lima on the ground, eventually securing a submission in the second round to win the TUF 25 welterweight title. Taylor closed as the -170 favorite while Lima was the +150 underdog.
Jared Cannonier landed heavy strikes throughout the fight, but Nick Roehrick was able to stay standing until the third round when Big John McCarthy stopped the fight due to strikes. Cannonier closed as a big -350 fave in victory while Roehrick was a +250 dog in defeat.
Brad Tavares secured a timely takedown in round three, threatening with a submission to squeak out a close decision win over Elias Theodorou. Tavares closed as a slight -115 favorite while Theodorou was a small -105 dog.
Jordan Johnson and Marcel Fortuna put in a close 15 minutes, but it was former’s forward aggression and control of the cage that were enough to earn the win. Johnson closed at -190 while Fortuna was +165.
Angela Hill did well to fend off takedowns and got the best of the striking throughout the fight to get her first UFC win in a strawweight matchup with Ashley Yoder. Hill closed at -340 while with Yoder at +280.
James Krause landed clean jabs throughout this fight, easily out-striking Tom Gallicchio for 15 minutes to win a unanimous decision. Krause closed as the biggest favorite on the card at -550 with Gallicchio a large +425 dog.
CB Dollaway dominated the grappling in two of the three rounds to earn a decision victory over fellow veteran Ed Herman. Dollaway closed at -145 with Herman +125 in defeat.
Tecia Torres made the most of a scramble opportunity, finding the back of Juliana Lima to secure a choke for her first career finish in the Octagon. Torres closed as a huge -470 favorite with Lima +375.
Underdogs that Won Gaethje and Johnson fought an instant classic in the lightweight main event, but there could only be one winner. Gaethje had Johnson badly hurt towards the end of round two and was able to get the TKO win. Gaethje closed at +145 with Johnson disappointing backers despite a solid first round at -165.
Drakkar Klose focused his attack on Marc Diakiese’s lead leg, slowing down the Englishman and allowing him to score the upset by split decision. Klose closed at +185 with Diakiese -225.
Gray Maynard earned a lopsided victory over Teruto Ishihara, mauling him with a wrestling-focused attack over the course of 15 minutes. Maynard closed as the biggest dog to win at +285 while Ishihara was -345 in defeat.
