Here are my live dogs for Bellator NYC/180…
Heavyweight bout: Matt Mitrione (-115) vs. Fedor Emalianenko (-105)
Gabe’s Thoughts: On the feet, I think this fight is a toss-up. However, on the mat is where I believe Fedor will have a massive advantage over Mitrione. If Fedor opts to employ his grappling, he could make quick work of the Indiana native. I think Fedor should be a -160 betting favorite in this contest, so I like him for a play at his current asking price of -105.
Gabe’s Call: Emalianenko by Submission (armbar, 1:32 round 1)
Gabe’s Recommended Play: Emalianenko (-105)
Featherweight bout: James Gallagher (-225) vs. Chinzo Machida (+185)
Gabe’s Thoughts: I think Machida is the superior striker heading into this 145-pound matchup, and I see him outstriking Gallagher for the majority of three rounds to pick up a unanimous-decision victory on the judges’ scorecards, potentially stopping him along the way. Machida is a big step up in competition for Gallagher, and it is a test he can pass, but I think the odds are in the Brazilian’s favor. I think Machida should be a slight betting favorite in this contest, so I really like him for a play at his current offering underdog price tag of +185.
Gabe’s Call: Machida by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)
Gabe’s Recommended Play: Machida (+185)
