UFC officials announced Tuesday that John Makdessi will replace the injured Claudio Puelles against Sage Northcutt at UFC 214 on July 29th in Anaheim.
Makdessi (14-6-0) hasn’t competed since a first-round knockout loss to Lando Vannata at UFC 206 in December. The 32-year-old recently returned to Tristar Gym and is currently 1-3 in his last four fights.
Northcutt (8-2-0) has lost dropped of his last three fights, including a submission loss to Mickey Gall at UFC on FOX 22 in December. The 21-year-old is currently training at Team Alpha Male for this fight and has never lost back-to-back fights in his career.
