Glory 42: Paris emanates from the AccorHotels Arena in Paris, France this Saturday (June 10, 2017) at 5:30 p.m. (ET). In the main event, Cédric “The Best” Doumbé puts his welterweight title on the line against Nieky “The Natural” Holzken in a championship rematch.
Doumbé (66-4-1) put a halt to Holzken’s four-year unbeaten streak at GLORY: COLLISION in December while subsequently capturing the welterweight title. The 24-year-old followed that up with a win over Yoann Kongolo at GLORY 39 Brussels, pushing his winning streat to 11 in a row. Holzken (90-12) competes for the first time since his loss to Doumbé. The 33-year-old looks to avoid back-to-back losses for the first time since 2008.
The co-main event features a rematch between welterweights Murthel Groenhart and Harut Grigorian. Groenhart (65-22-3) is coming off a split-decision win over Alan Scheinson at Glory 41: Holland in May. “The Predator” has won five of his last six fights. Grigorian (44-10) was slated to fight Groenhart at the GLORY 41 SuperFight Series earlier this month, however, an injury delayed this matchup. The 28-year-old has won 12 of his last 13 fights and heads into this matchup on a two-fight win streak.
The first meeting was a 2012 battle in the K-1 World MAX 2012 World Championship Tournament Final, where Groenhart won by third-round knockout. Expect the winner of this matchup to compete for welterweight title.
This card also includes a one-night, four-man lightweight contender tournament. The first matchup pits Anatoly Moiseev (16-2) against Angola’s Christian “Bad News” Baya (57-5-1). The Moiseev-Baya winner will then face the winner of Niclas “The Destroyer” Larsen (46-8-2) versus Massaro Glunder later that evening.
