Ask Cousin Gabe: UFC 212 Edition

“Ask Cousin Gabe” is an article at MMA Oddsbreaker where I answer questions from readers. If you would like to ask me a question, regarding wagering, any upcoming fight cards, or MMA in general, please email it to budosophy@gmail.com and make sure to include your name and location.

In this edition, I cover UFC 212 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

What’s your prediction for the Aldo/Max fight? -Reg, Culver City, CA

I think Holloway gets the win, calls out Conor McGregor and demands the UFC to go to Hawaii. What happens next is I think he will face Frankie Edgar, and I think the UFC will finally start making plans to go to Hawaii, though it likely won’t be for his first title defense.

Anything for Cage Warriors this weekend? -Brad, London

No, I don’t like anything for that card. However, I do like a Minakov-Krylov-Johnson parlay for Fight Night Global 68. I may or may not do a write-up on it; we shall see if time will permit.

Erick Silva +130? Please explain. -George, Omaha, NE

He did open as the betting favorite, but public action, and potentially/arguably “sharps” have been hitting Yancy Medeiros heavy, making him the betting favorite. I can’t blame them, considering how good the Hawaiian looked in his UFC welterweight debut in his last outing, where he took out Sean Spencer and sent him to the unemployment line.

Do you think either Claudia or the Polish chick stand a chance at beating Joanna in a rematch? -V, Los Angeles, CA

For Claudia Gadelha, it would actually be a trilogy bout, as she has lost to JJ twice already. To answer your question; yes, I think Gadelha could beat her, if and only if she greatly improves her cardio. It is what failed her in their two previous meetings. I could see Karolina Kowalkiewicz managing to score an upset of the champion in a rematch too, but she would probably be a bigger underdog than she was the first time around. She nearly put JJ away, but that was the only good round she saw, as she was dominated in the remaining four.
