The Ultimate Fighting Championship is set to return to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for the eighth time in promotional history this Saturday (June 3, 2017) with UFC 212: Aldo vs. Holloway. The 12-fight card is scheduled to kick off with preliminary card action on UFC Fight Pass at 6:30 p.m. ET. Prelims will continue on FOX Sports 1 at 8 p.m., with the main card getting underway on Pay-Per-View at 10 p.m. If interested in wagering on any bouts for this fight card, all betting lines are available at Several Bookmakers.
Here is my live dogs for the prelims:
Bantamweight bout: Iuri Alcantara (-330) vs. Brian Kelleher (+270)
Gabe’s Thoughts: Alcantara is coming off an impressive, come-from-behind kneebar submission win over Luke Sanders at UFC 209 about three months ago, and he will be looking to make it three straight wins when he takes on promotional newcomer Kelleher in his native Brazil on Saturday night. “Boom” is making his UFC debut on the heels of a six-fight winning streak and owns a win over recent promotional newcomer Andre Soukmamthath. I think this 135-pound contest is a lot closer than the current betting odds suggest, and I see Kelleher having a good chance at scoring the upset on enemy soil. At these odds, I have to side with Kelleher, as I think this is a matchup that could potentially favor him.
Gabe’s Call: Kelleher by Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)
Gabe’s Recommended Play: Kelleher (+270)
Women’s Strawweight bout: Viviane Pereira (-155) vs. Jamie Moyle (+135)
Gabe’s Thoughts: This is a closely contested matchup in the UFC’s women’s 115-pound division, as the betting odds do currently indicate. While I agree that it is a very close fight, I don’t quite agree with the current odds, because I think Moyle should be slightly favored to win heading in, so I see value in her at her current offering underdog price of +135. Pereira could get the better of her on the feet, but I see Moyle managing to take the fight to the mat, where I think she will do enough to win at least two out of three rounds on the judges’ scorecards for a decision victory, possibly a split, especially considering the fact that she is traveling to enemy territory in Brazil for this matchup.
Gabe’s Call: Moyle by Split Decision (28-29, 29-28, 29-28)
Gabe’s Recommended Play: Moyle (+135)
