UFC 212: Aldo vs. Holloway
Date: June 3, 2017
Arena: Jeunesse Arena
City: Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
The Ultimate Fighting Championship is set to return to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for the eighth time in promotional history this Saturday (June 3, 2017) with UFC 212: Aldo vs. Holloway. The 12-fight card is scheduled to kick off with preliminary card action on UFC Fight Pass at 6:30 p.m. ET. Prelims will continue on FOX Sports 1 at 8 p.m., with the main card getting underway on Pay-Per-View at 10 p.m. If interested in wagering on any bouts for this fight card, all betting lines are available at Several Bookmakers.
Here is my live dogs for the main card:
Middleweight bout: Paulo Borrachinha (-275) vs. Oluwale Bamgbose (+235)
Gabe’s Thoughts: I believe this middleweight contest is a lot closer than the betting odds indicate. I think Bamgbose has a good chance of scoring the upset on enemy turf in this bout. I see this fight taking place on the feet, where I think it is a coin-flip. It is my pure guess that the Brazilian has the better chin, but I think Bamgbose is more than capable of cracking it. Contrary to popular opinion, I think this is a close fight, so being in disagreement with the betting lines, I am going to make a value play on the “Holy War Angel” to score the upset in Rio de Janeiro this Saturday night.
Gabe’s Call: Bamgbose by T/KO (strikes, 1:44 round 1)
Gabe’s Recommended Play: Bamgbose (+235)
Welterweight bout: Yancy Medeiros (-145) vs. Erick Silva (+125)
Gabe’s Thoughts: I think Silva should be a -180 betting favorite heading into this welterweight affair, so I see value in him at his current offering underdog price of +125. He has the home advantage, the striking advantage, the grappling advantage and the size advantage. I think that’s more than enough to make him the rightful favorite, which he did open as, but the public has come in betting on the Hawaiian, who is coming off an impressive win over Sean Spencer. Silva has not looked great as of late, and this is his second bout since leaving Kings MMA to move back to Brazil and start his own gym. He did manage to return to the win column with a come-from-behind victory against Luan Chagas in his latest outing. This could be a very tough fight for Silva or a very easy one. He could even go out there and get knocked out in under 20 seconds. I just believe he should be the betting favorite, at least -140. At dog money, it’s tough to pass up.
Gabe’s Call: Silva by Technical Submission (rear naked choke, 1:31 round 1)
Gabe’s Recommended Play: Silva (+125)
