The Ultimate Fighting Championship is set to return to Stockholm, Sweden for the fifth time in promotional history this Sunday (May 28, 2017) with UFC Fight Night 109: Gustafsson vs. Teixeira. The 12-fight card is scheduled to kick off with preliminary action on UFC Fight Pass at 10 a.m. ET. Here are my prop plays:
Alexander Gustafsson (-275) vs. Glover Teixeira (+235)
Gustafsson in Round One (+475)
Teixeira’s chin is fading, and I think he knows it. Gustafsson probably knows it too. I think he times a clean shot and catches Teixeira out early, putting him out cold for the first-round knockout victory. At +475, I think it’s worth a gamble.
Misha Cirkunov (-450) vs. Volkan Oezdemir (+400)
Cirkunov by Decision (+367)
In short, I think this is the best value prop for this fight. I think Cirkunov is capable of winning this fight by submission, but I believe the decision prop offers more value.
Peter Sobotta (-115) vs. Ben Saunders (-105)
Sobotta by Decision (+210)
I believe this is the most likely outcome to this welterweight contest. I see Sobotta successfully scoring takedowns on Saunders and out-wrestling him on the mat, while avoiding his submission attempts.
Chris Camozzi (-160) vs. Trevor Smith (+140)
Smith by Decision (+220)
I recommended playing Smith straight at +205, and he has since fallen to +140. I think he is still worth playing at +140 straight, as I believe he should be the betting favorite heading into this middleweight matchup. I think he wins this fight on the judges’ scorecards the majority of the time, so I think this prop is worth a play at the current price.
Marcin Held (-340) vs. Damir Hadzovic (+280)
Hadzovic by T/KO (+875)
Hadzovic by Decision (+500)
These are especially for people who are betting Held, as I think Hadzovic stands a chance at finishing Held via strikes or by outpointing him on the judges’ scorecards for a decision win. I do favor Held in this bout, but I think there is betting value in these prop lines.
