Early Betting Look at the UFC 211 Prelims on FX

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is set to return to Dallas, TX for the fourth time in promotional history with UFC 211: Miocic vs. Dos Santos II. The incredibly stacked 14-fight card is scheduled to kick off with preliminary action on UFC Fight Pass at 6 p.m. ET, which will continue on FX at 8 p.m., with the main card getting underway on Pay-Per-View at 10 p.m. If interested in wagering on any bouts for this fight card, all betting lines are available at Several Bookmakers.

Getting things started for the UFC 211 prelims on FX will be a lightweight showdown between TUF 15 veteran James Vick and TUF: Latin America’s Polo Reyes. This is a pairing of two lightweights who fight for the finish, so this scrap is not expected to go the full three-round distance.

Vick returned to the win column at UFC Fight Night 104 two months ago with a third-round D’Arce choke submission of Abel Trujillo, improving to 6-1 inside the Octagon and 10-1 overall as a pro. Reyes is undefeated inside the Octagon at 3-0 with two finishes, and he will be looking to keep that streak going against Vick, who will be his stiffest test to date.

“The Texacutioner” opened as a -275 favorite (bet $275 to win $100) in this matchup, with the return on the underdog Reyes at +195 (bet $100 to win $195). Early action on Vick has moved the lines to a current -350/+250.

Welcome back to the UFC, David Branch! The New Yorker takes on Poland’s Kryzsztof Jotko in a “new school versus old school” matchup in the UFC’s middleweight division. Both 185-pounders have a lot to gain with a victory in this contest, so they will be out to impress in Dallas.

Branch was released by the UFC following a 2-2 run and has gone 12-1 since, with the lone defeat being a unanimous-decision loss to Anthony “Rumble” Johnson under the Titan FC banner. He is currently riding hot on a 10-fight winning streak heading into his second stint with the UFC, during which he captured both the 185-pound and 205-pound WSOF titles. Meanwhile, Jotko last saw action at UFC Fight Night 100 nearly five months ago, when he picked up a unanimous-decision win over Thales Leites, making it four straight for himself inside the Octagon.

The betting odds for this 185-pound contest opened with both fighters being offered at the coin-flip price of -120. Public action has since come in on Jotko, making him a current -165 favorite and Branch a +125 underdog.

Featherweights take center stage for the next bout, as Texas’ own Chas Skelly looks to make it three straight wins for himself inside the Octagon when he squares off against Mississippi’s Jason Knight, who is in search of his fourth victories in a row. This 145-pound scrap is a definite dark horse for the evening’s “Fight of the Night” bonus, so make sure not to schedule your bathroom break during this one.

Skelly opened as a -265 favorite over Knight, who opened as a +185 underdog. Heavy action immediately came in on Knight, bringing betting lines to a current -130/-110, still favoring Skelly.

The featured bout for the UFC 211 prelims on FX will be a lightweight tilt between former UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez and surging 155-pound prospect Dustin Poirier. Both men have one thing in common: they were knocked out by Conor McGregor. Alvarez has not seen action since his defeat at UFC 205 last November while Poirier is coming off a majority-decision win over Jim Miller and has gone 5-1 since moving up to the UFC’s lightweight division.

Alvarez versus Poirier is a main card worthy matchup that is obviously taking place prelims, which speaks volumes for how stacked this card this. A definite candidate for “Fight of the Night” honors, these 155-pounders are expected to leave it all inside the Octagon when they square up in Dallas. This is a big fight for both men, as Alvarez is coming off the most sour loss of his career with Poirier awaiting the toughest test of his.

Poirier opened as a slight -140 betting favorite in this contest, with the return on Alvarez +100. After some back-and-forth action, betting lines sit at a current coin-flip price of -110/-110. Click here to view the latest UFC 211 odds for all main card bouts along with the prelims.
