The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is set to return to Dallas, TX for the fourth time in promotional history with UFC 211: Miocic vs. Dos Santos II. The incredibly stacked 14-fight card is scheduled to kick off with preliminary action on UFC Fight Pass at 6 p.m. ET, which will continue on FX at 8 p.m., with the main card getting underway on Pay-Per-View at 10 p.m. If interested in wagering on any bouts for this fight card, all betting lines are available at Several Bookmakers.
Kicking things off for the UFC 211 main card is a flyweight tilt between former 125-pound title challenger Henry Cejudo and surging prospect Sergio Pettis. Cejudo and Pettis both generally deliver entertaining performances, so this pairing is expected to produce fireworks and get the main card rolling on a high note.
“The Messenger” last saw action at The Ultimate Fighter Season 24 Finale four months ago, where he came up short in a controversial split-decision loss against Joseph Benavidez. Meanwhile, “The Phenom” — the younger brother of former lightweight champion Anthony Pettis — is coming off a unanimous-decision win over John Moraga at UFC Fight Night 103 a couple of months ago and enjoys a three-fight winning streak.
Cejudo opened as a -230 favorite ($230 to win $100) over Pettis, with the return on Pettis +170 (bet $100 to win $170). Heavy action has since come in on the Cejudo, driving betting lines to a current -430/+335.
Featherweights then take center stage in the following bout, as former UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar meets another hot prospect in Yair Rodriguez. Edgar earned a unanimous-decision win over Jeremy Stephens at UFC 205 last November and hopes to earn another crack at the division’s gold with an impressive victory in this contest.
Rodriguez is currently undefeated inside the Octagon with six victories, and he has a professional MMA record of 10-1. Much like Edgar, he hopes that a big win here — over what is the stiffest test of his career — will put him next in line for a shot at the winner of the upcoming Jose Aldo versus Max Holloway title fight.
Edgar opened as a -260 favorite for this bout, with Rodriguez a +180 underdog. Heavy action since has come in on the dog, bringing betting lines to a current -135/+115.
Next up on the main card is arguably the people’s main event, as welterweights Demian Maia and Jorge Masvidal are scheduled to square off in what is being considered a No. 1 contender bout. This is a classic striker versus grappler matchup, and many consider it to be the most highly-anticipated fight since Tony Ferguson versus Khabib Nurmagomedov, which never materialized.
The Brazilian Maia rides a six-fight winning streak into this one, including victories against Gunnar Nelson, Matt Brown and Carlos Condit. American Top Team fighter Masvidal has a three-fight winning streak himself and is is 4-2 since moving up to the UFC’s welterweight division. Masvidal and Maia are both “must-see TV” fighters at 170 pounds, so this is a matchup that has everybody excited.
Maia opened as a -175 favorite for this contest, with Masvidal a +135 underdog. However, heavy public action has since flipped the betting lines, making Masvidal the current betting favorite at -135, with Maia the underdog at +115.
The co-main event will see Joanna Jedrzejczyk look to defend her UFC women’s strawweight title for the fifth time when she takes on Brazil’s Jessica Andrade. The Brazilian is undefeated at 3-0 since moving down to the UFC’s women’s 115-pound division, and after having earned her shot at the champ, is fully ready to dethrone her. Many see this bout as the champion’s biggest challenge yet, and despite the lack of promotion, this is another highly-anticipated matchup.
Jedrzejczyk opened as a -165 favorite for what she hopes to be her fifth successful consecutive title defense, and Andrade opened as the underdog at +125. After some back and forth action, betting lines have slightly tightened up to a current -155/+135.
Headlining UFC 211 will be a heavyweight rematch between champion Stipe Miocic and challenger Junior dos Santos, only this time it will be for the title belt. The pair first met in December of 2014, when Miocic lost a razor-thin unanimous decision after five rounds of back-and-forth action. The champ has since racked up four straight wins, most recently a first-round knockout of Alistair Overeem in what was his first title defense. Heading into this matchup, he will be looking to tie the record for most UFC heavyweight title defenses with two.
Miocic opened as a -245 favorite in this rematch, with dos Santos a +175 underdog. Heavy action has since come in on the Brazilian dos Santos, who is also a former champ, bringing betting lines to a very tight -125/+105.
