Anthony Pettis moves back up to lightweight against Jim Miller at UFC 213

According to a report from Combate on Tuesday, former UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis will be moving back up to the 155-pound division against Jim Miller at UFC 213 on July 8th. Pettis (19-5) will be competing for the first time since December, when he suffered a TKO loss to Max Holloway at UFC 206 in Toronto.

The 30-year-old subsequently missed weight for that vacant interim title fight and he returns to the lightweight division after a 1-1 record at featherweight. Pettis has lost four of his last five fights.

Meanwhile, Miller (28-9-0, 1 No-Contest) had his three-fight win streak snapped in a majority decision loss to Dustin Poirier at UFC 208 in February. The 33-year-old has gone the distance in his last four fights.

Amanda Nunes vs. Valentina Shevchenko in the works for UFC 213

MMAFighting broke the news Tuesday that Amanda Nunes is set to defend her bantamweight title against Valentina Shevchenko at UFC 213. Nunes (14-4) is coming off an impressive first-round TKO victory over Ronda Rousey at UFC 207. The American Top Team Product is currently riding a five-fight win streak. Shevchenko (14-2) has gone 3-1 in the UFC, with her lone loss coming against Nunes via decision at UFC 196 last March.

Gerald Meerschaert vs. Thiago Santos booked for UFC 213

Combate also reported that middleweights Gerald Meerschaert and Thiago Santos will clash at UFC 213 on July 8th as well. Meerschaert (26-8) has gone a perfect 2-0 in the UFC, with stoppage victories over Joe Gigliotti and most recently Ryan Janes at UFC Fight Night 105 in February. “The Machine” has won 19 of his 26 career fights by submission.

Santos (14-5) is coming off a second-round TKO win over Jack Marshman at UFC Fight Night 105. The win snapped a two-fight skid where he suffered setbacks to Gegard Mousasi and Eric Spicely.

Here’s an updated look at the card…

Amanda Nunes (c) vs. Valentina Shevchenko – UFC women’s bantamweight title

TUF 26 featuring women’s flyweight division not official

MMA fans were elated last night when the UFC announced in a press release that TUF 26 would feature women’s flyweight competitors with the intention of bringing in a 125-pound division in the UFC. However, according to MMAFighting, it appears that announcement was premature.

According to the report UFC president Dana White said that the press release was sent in error and wasn’t finalized. TUF 26 was initially slated to feature casting for the women’s strawweight and bantamweight divisions along with the men’s middleweight division.
