MMAOddsBreaker.com‘s Knockout of the Month for April 2017 goes to Robert Whittaker at UFC on FOX 24 in Kansas City.
Whittaker was a 2-to-1 underdog heading into the main event contest against Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu ace and mixed martial arts legend Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza but delivered his most impressive performance to date. This fight was all Whittaker from the opening bell. Even in moments of potential trouble, he was in complete control and quickly got the fight back to where he is most comfortable — on the feet. He got the better of Souza on the feet from the opening bell, hurting him a number of times until the second round, where a head-kick and follow-up strikes did the Brazilian in. The incredible finish almost certainly puts Whittaker one fight away from getting his shot at the UFC’s 185-pound gold. Congratulations, Robert Whittaker!
