UFC Fight Night 108: Swanson vs. Lobov
Date: April 22, 2017
Arena: Bridgestone Arena
City: Nashville, TN
The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) heads back to Nashville, TN for the fourth time in promotional history this Saturday (April 22, 2017) with UFC Fight Night 108: Swanson vs. Lobov. The 13-fight card is set to kick off with preliminary action on UFC Fight Pass at 6:30 p.m. ET, which follows on FX at 8 p.m., with the main card kicking off on the same channel at 10 p.m. If interested in wagering on any bouts for this fight card, all betting lines are available at Several Bookmakers.
Here are my plays:
Middleweight bout: Thales Leites (-125) vs. Sam Alvey (+105)
Gabe’s Thoughts: At this point in their careers, I think Alvey is the better fighter, and that’s pretty much all it boils down to. I see him outlanding the Brazilian on the feet here for the majority of three rounds en route to a unanimous-decision victory on the judges’ scorecards, potentially securing a T/KO stoppage along the way. I think Alvey should be slightly favored in this contest, so I like him for a play at his currently offered price of +105.
Gabe’s Call: Alvey by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)
Gabe’s Recommended Play: Alvey (+105)
Flyweight bout: Hector Sandoval (-120) vs. Matt Schnell (+100)
Gabe’s Thoughts: As for my official pick, I keep going back and forth. I agree with the betting lines in that this is a very close fight that could go either way. At the current odds, I can’t back either fighter at the betting window, however, I do see value in the Total of Under 2.5 rounds at +180, as I think both fighters have a chance at ending this fight inside the distance. I can see Schnell catching Sandoval in a submission, and I can see Sandoval catching Schnell on the feet and putting him out cold. A guillotine choke by Sandoval would not be out of the question either. I think there is a fair chance that both fighters pick up a win by finish in this 125-pound contest, so at +180 I do like the Under 2.5 rounds for a play here.
Gabe’s Call: Schnell by Submission (rear-naked choke, 2:31 round 1)
Gabe’s Recommended Play: Under 2.5 rounds (+180)
