UFC Fight Night 108: Swanson vs. Lobov

Date: April 22, 2017
Arena: Bridgestone Arena
City: Nashville, TN

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) heads back to Nashville, TN for the fourth time in promotional history this Saturday (April 22, 2017) with UFC Fight Night 108: Swanson vs. Lobov. The 13-fight card is set to kick off with preliminary action on UFC Fight Pass at 6:30 p.m. ET, which follows on FX at 8 p.m., with the main card kicking off on the same channel at 10 p.m. If interested in wagering on any bouts for this fight card, all betting lines are available at Several Bookmakers.

My Over/Under Totals are:

Featherweight bout: Cub Swanson (-680) vs. Artem Lobov (+490)

Gabe’s Thoughts: Regardless of who gets his hand raised, I do think there’s a finish in under three and a half rounds in this main event contest scheduled for five. I favor Swanson to get the win here, but if there’s one thing Lobov has got, it’s power. And if he connects clean, it could be a wrap, especially considering the fact that Swanson has already suffered two broken jaws. I think Swanson should be a -350 betting favorite here, so at the current odds, I see absolutely zero value in him for a play. I can’t fault anybody for making a value play on Lobov at +490. But for me, that is going to be a pass, and I am going to ride with the Total of Under 3.5 rounds here at -145, as I think that line should be -210.

Gabe’s Call: Swanson by T/KO (strikes, 4:42 round 3)

Gabe’s Recommended Play: Under 3.5 rounds (-145)

Lightweight bout: Al Iaquinta (-400) vs. Diego Sanchez (+325)

Gabe’s Thoughts: Sanchez last saw action at the TUF: Latin America 3 Finale back in November, where he came through with one of his best performances in recent memory in a unanimous-decision upset of surging lightweight prospect Marcin Held. It was a solid way for him to return to the win column following a first round T/KO loss to Joe Lauzon at UFC 200, and he will be hoping to make it two straight against Long Island’s Iaquinta. “Raging Al” returns from a two-year layoff to take on Sanchez in the co-main event of the evening, and I think he is a justified betting favorite at -400. I believe Iaquinta is simply the better fighter everywhere. I think there is a good chance he defeats Sanchez by stoppage, so at +130, I like the Total of Under 2.5 rounds in this 155-pound contest scheduled for three.

Gabe’s Call: Iaquinta by T/KO (punches, 0:57 round 1)

Gabe’s Recommended Play: Under 2.5 rounds (+130)
