The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) heads back to Nashville, TN for the fourth time in promotional history this Saturday (April 22, 2017) with UFC Fight Night 108: Swanson vs. Lobov. The 13-fight card is set to kick off with preliminary action on UFC Fight Pass at 6:30 p.m. ET, which follows on FX at 8 p.m., with the main card kicking off on the same channel at 10 p.m. If interested in wagering on any bouts for this fight card, all betting lines are available at Several Bookmakers.
Bantamweight bout: John Dodson (-420) vs. Eddie Wineland (+335)
Gabe’s Thoughts: In short, I think this bout is much closer than the betting odds currently indicate, and I see great value in Wineland at his current offering price of +335. In fact, I think he is worth a bet at +180 or better, so +335 is just a beautiful price to be getting him at.
Gabe’s Call: Dodson by Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)
Gabe’s Recommended Play: Wineland (+335)
Lightweight bout: Stevie Ray (-210) vs. Joe Lauzon (+175)
Gabe’s Thoughts: I think Lauzon should be in the +120 to +150 range, so I think he is worth playing at the currently offered price of +175. At the current odds, I do believe this is a “dog or pass” situation and clearly I am opting to side with the underdog here. If Lauzon decides to make this a grappling contest, he could end up cruising to a decision here. The question is if he will be able to take the fight to the mat for at least two out of three rounds, and I think the answer is yes, because while he does not have the greatest takedowns, Ray does not have very good takedown defense.
Gabe’s Call: Ray by Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)
Gabe’s Recommended Play: Lauzon (+175)
Welterweight bout: Mike Perry (-185) vs. Jake Ellenberger (+160)
Gabe’s Thoughts: Ellenberger is in good shape and is the superior mixed martial artist of the two heading into this 170-pound contest. I think he should be the betting favorite here, so I like him for a play at his current underdog price of +160. I believe Ellenberger has more ways to win this fight, whereas outside of a knockout, I don’t think Perry stands much of a shot. Perry is definitely a dangerous opponent, but Ellenberger is the better fighter here, and I favor him to get his hand raised on Saturday night. At +160, I think he is the right side for a play here.
Gabe’s Call: Ellenberger by Unanimous Decision (30-27 x 3)
Gabe’s Recommended Play: Ellenberger (+160)
