In one line, I will be providing my own personal description for every fight ahead of us at tonight’s UFC 210. This article is aimed at the casual fan who is not familiar with most of the athletes competing on the card. I will also be following the Twitter rule of thumb of keeping them in 140 characters or less. If interested in wagering on any bouts for this fight card, all betting lines are currently made available at Several Bookmakers.
And without further ado, here are my one-liners for UFC 209…
MAIN CARD (PAY PER VIEW)
Daniel Cormier vs. Anthony Johnson
A light heavyweight title rematch that has fight fans torn; will “Rumble” get the knockout this time, or will Cormier do a repeat?
Gegard Mousasi vs. Chris Weidman
This is an excellent co-main event scrap between two elite middleweights, and for some, it is the most highly anticipated fight on the card.
Cynthia Calvillo vs. Pearl Gonzalez
A barn burner in the UFC’s women’s strawweight division between a pair of talented, undefeated prospects aiming to make noise at 115-pounds.
Patrick Cote vs. Thiago Alves
A welterweight matchup between two veterans looking to stay relevant in the sport, but this fight would be more fitting on the prelims.
Will Brooks vs. Charles Oliveira
After failing to make weight at 145-pounds, Oliveira has made the move back up to the lightweight division, where he is greeted by Brooks.
PRELIMINARY CARD (FOX Sports 1)
Myles Jury vs. Mike De La Torre
Jury returns from an extended layoff and is looking for his first win at 145-pounds against De La Torre in a likely “loser goes home” matchup.
Kamaru Usman vs. Sean Strickland
A couple of welterweight prospects go to war in hopes of coming out with an impressive victory that cracks them into the divisions rankings.
Charles Rosa vs. Shane Burgos
Expect a sure-fire barn burner in this featherweight scrap, as Rosa and Burgos are amongst the most entertaining fighters on the roster.
Patrick Cummins vs. Jan Blachowicz
A classic “wrestler versus grappler” matchup in the UFC’s light heavyweight division that will kick off the televised prelims.
…PRELIMINARY CARD (FOX Sports 1)
Gregor Gillespie vs. Andrew Holbrook
This battle between a high level wrestler and high level submission artist will wrap up the Fight Pass portion of the prelims.
Josh Emmett vs. Desmond Green
Green finally makes his UFC debut & is set to do so in his backyard against Emmett, who travels to enemy territory aiming to stay undefeated.
Katlyn Chookagian vs. Irene Aldana
Fireworks are expected to go off when the Armenian Chookagian squares off against Mexico’s Aldana in this 135-pound barn burner.
Magomed Bibulatov vs. Jenel Lausa
Undefeated flyweight Bibulatov makes his Octagon debut in this bout against Lausa, who is a talented striker seeking his second UFC victory.
