Bellator 175’s Chase Gormley “If I was Sergei Kharitonov I would have taken a lot more time off from that knockout loss”

MMAOddsBreaker’s Frank Trigg speaks with  Bellator 175’s Chase Gormley ahead of his heavyweight matchup against Sergei Kharitonov this Friday (March 31, 2017).

“I think [Sergei Kharitonov] is probably discouraged from his last fight. It takes a lot longer for your brain to heal up. If I was him I would have taken a lot more time off. When I got knocked out by Dan Charles I took almost seven, eight months off. Let your brain heal because after you get knocked out,  you get hit in practice, the littlest punches knock you goofy. So I don’t think it’s a smart fight to come back this soon. I think that’s my advantage in this fight is if I push the pace and I crack him a good one. I think I can drop him – not necessarily because I’m a power puncher or a knockout out – it’s just that his brain hasn’t healed.”
