Former UFC Welterweight Champion Matt Hughes in Talks for a Comeback

In a taped episode of “Undeniable with Joe Buck” on the AT&T Audience Network that will air this Summer/Fall, UFC Hall of Famer Matt Hughes (45-9) said he is in talks to return to competing in the sport of mixed martial arts. Hughes has not seen action since UFC 135 nearly six years ago, when he suffered a first-round knockout at the hands of The Ultimate Fighter 1 veteran Josh Koscheck. The former UFC welterweight champion retired shortly following the Koscheck loss and took a job with the UFC as Vice President of Athlete Development and Government Relations. Long considered a “no show” job, Hughes was terminated from the position as part of their company-wide layoffs last December, not long after WEM|IMG took UFC ownership from Zuffa. Left without a job, the competitor in Hughes is speaking to him now louder than ever. He makes no promises, but he lets it be known that he may stage a potential comeback, whether it is in the UFC or more likely, Bellator. Below is a clip from Hughes’ Joe Buck interview scheduled to air later this year…
