UFC on FUEL TV 10 Ginasio Paulo Sarasate Saturday, June 8, 2013 Welterweight bout: Erick Silva (-420) vs. Jason High (+335) Fight Breakdown: Top Brazilian prospect Erick Silva returns to the Octagon when he takes on American Jason High in a main-card welterweight bout at UFC on FUEL TV 10. Silva is currently a -420 favorite (bet $420 to win $100), while High is a +335 underdog (bet $100 to win $335) at Several Bookmakers. Silva (14-3, 1 NC) is 2-2 in his UFC career so far but that record really should read 3-1 as referee Mario Yamasaki took away a TKO victory from him at UFC 142 with a terrible DQ call. Regardless, the UFC knows how talented Silva is and that’s why he was never penalized for that bad referee call as Silva’s last fight was against Jon Fitch. Although Silva lost the fight with unanimous decision, it was a highly competitive fight and there’s no doubt he learned a lot in that fight. The 28-year-old is an explosive striker on the feet and is equally as dangerous on the ground making him an extremely tough out for anyone at 170 pounds in the UFC. High (16-3) is making his return to the UFC after a one-and-done stint back in 2010. The 31-year-old is a very solid grappler and is coming into this fight riding a seven-fight win streak that includes wins over Jordan Mein and Hayato Sakurai. Had High been taking on Silva on neutral ground he definitely would have been an underdog to look at but going into Silva’s backyard in Brazil, High is going to be fighting in an extremely hostile environment and for a guy who has faltered on the big stage before, it’s likely to be more of the same this time around. Fight Prediction: High might get a takedown early on, but even if he does the Brazilian crowd will boo and the ref will be under pressure to stand the fighters up. And when they are in the standup, Silva has a gigantic advantage in power and I see him blasting through High en route to a first-or-second round T/KO victory. Adam’s Pick: Silva via T/KO (click for latest MMA odds) Adam’s Recommended Play: I like Erick Silva in this fight but the moneyline of -420 is pretty high. I would say that instead of playing the ML, go ahead and play the Silva wins inside the distance prop, which currently pays out at -170. That’s a good price to pay as Silva wins the fighter by either T/KO or submission nearly nine times out of 10, in my opinion.
