UFC Fight Night 106: Belfort vs. Gastelum Date: March 11, 2017 Arena: Centro de Formação Olímpica do Nordeste City: Fortaleza, Brazil The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is in back in Fortaleza, Brazil for the second time in promotional history with UFC Fight Night 106: Belfort vs. Gastelum. The 12-fight main card is scheduled to kick off with preliminary on UFC Fight Pass at 7:30pm ET. The prelims will then continue on FOX Sports 1 at 8pm, and the main card will follow on the same channel at 10pm. If interested in wagering on any bouts for these fight card, all betting lines will be made available to you at Several Bookmakers. Here are my live dogs: Light Heavyweight bout: Mauricio “Shogun” Rua (-140) vs Gian Villante (+120) Gabe’s Thoughts: This is a very close fight in the UFC’s light heavyweight division, and Villante’s chin and cardio remain concerns heading in, especially considering the fact that this bout is taking place in hot and humid Fortaleza, Brazil. If this fight ends early, I favor the younger, less seasoned Villante to get the finish, but if the fight ends late, I think it is more likely that Shogun finishes. If it hits the judges’ scorecards for a decision, it could be anybody’s fight, depending on Villante’s cardio. If he shows up in shape, I think he will manage to win two out of three rounds to pick up the win on the cards. This is a coin-flip fight with a slight lean to underdog, so I’ll take a shot with Villante at plus money. Gabe’s Call: Villante by T/KO (punches, 0:24 round 1) Gabe’s Recommended Play: Villante (+120) Bantamweight bout: Rani Yahya (-175) vs Joe Soto (+155) Gabe’s Thoughts: I think this is a close fight in the UFC’s bantamweight division, and at the current odds, I think the betting value is with the underdog Soto at +155, as I think he should be anywhere between a -120 and -160 betting favorite heading into this contest. I think he will have an advantage on the feet in this bout, and country to popular opinion, I think he is capable of getting the better of Yahya on the mat. Again, I think this is a close fight, but I am betting the numbers here, and I have to take the +155 dog when I think he should be slightly favored, even on enemy territory in Fortaleza, Brazil. Gabe’s Call: Soto by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 29-28, 30-27) Gabe’s Recommended Play: Soto (+155) All of my content and plays are free. Your support is greatly appreciated.
