MMAOddsBreaker.com‘s Fight of the Month for February 2017 goes to UFC heavyweights Derrick Lewis and Travis Browne at UFC Fight Night 105 on February 19th.
Browne looked to be in control in the early going of this main event heavyweight contest scheduled for five rounds. He hurt Lewis with kicks to the body, but “The Black Beast” ended up fighting through it and coming back to hurt Browne in the first round. “Hapa” recovered and started to get back into the fight, hurting Lewis some more with those kicks to the body. However, it was the beginning of the end when Lewis hurt Browne in the second round. Browne tried to fight on and nearly got back in it, but his balance was off and he tripped, allowing his opponent to fall right on top of him, being in the position which he is most dangerous in. Lewis now owns nine T/KO victories inside the Octagon, and eight of those have come by brutal ground-and-pound. Once on top of Browne on the canvas, Lewis rained down some of his signature shots that put Browne out cold, and the referee stepped in to halt the contest, albeit a couple of shots too late. Congratulations to Derrick Lewis and Travis Browne for delivering such an entertaining heavyweight main event bout and earning MMAOddsBreaker.com‘s Fight of the Month!
