UFC Fight Night 105: Lewis vs. Browne Date: February 19, 2017 Arena: Scotiabank Centre City: Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada for the second time in promotional history this Sunday (February 19, 2017) with UFC Fight Night 105: Lewis vs. Browne. The 11-fight card is set to kick off at 6:30 p.m. ET on UFC Fight Pass, then continue with preliminary action on FOX Sports 1 at 7 p.m. The six-fight main card will get underway at 9 p.m. on the same channel. If interested in wagering on any bouts for this fight card, all betting lines will be made available to you at Several Bookmakers. My main card plays are: Middleweight bout: Cezar “Mutante” Ferreira (-125) vs. Elias Theodoreau (+105) Gabe’s Thoughts: I think Ferreira is the superior mixed martial artist of the two heading into this 185-pound contest scheduled for three rounds. I believe he is the better striker of the two, as well as the better grappler. The main concern with Ferreira in his bouts is generally his chin, but I don’t think Theodoreau offers much of a knockout threat, though he has been claiming he is going to knock Ferreira out. I don’t like the chances of that happening and feel that “Mutante” is more likely to finish knock Theodoreau out than get knocked out by him in this contest. He is also capable of finishing Theodoreau by submission. I like “Mutante” to get his hand raised on Sunday night, earning his fourth straight victory inside the Octagon. Gabe’s Call: “Mutante” by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) Gabe’s Recommended Play: Ferreira (-125) Featherweight bout: Gavin Tucker (-160) vs. Sam Sicilia (+140) Gabe’s Thoughts: Sicilia is undoubtedly the stiffest test of Tucker’s professional mixed martial arts career, but it is one I could see him passing with flying colors. Sicilia possesses more power and has the better wrestling, but Tucker is the superior striker with the better submission game. It is possible that Sicilia could catch Tucker and knock him out or out-wrestle him for a win on the scorecards, especially if Tucker fades in later rounds, but I think it is a lot more likely that Tucker will get the better of Sicilia early and manage to put him away. Should he fail to secure a finish, I still favor him to pick up the win on the judges’ scorecards. However, as I already mentioned, I could also see him losing the fight there because I could see him fading if he fails to secure an early finish, which is especially a concern knowing that Octagon jitters could potentially be a factor in the bout for the Canadian promotional newcomer in his backyard. I still see Tucker dropping Sicilia, then either following up for a TKO finish or taking his back and securing a rear-naked choke submission. I favor Tucker to get his hand raised here in his UFC debut and remain undefeated as a pro. Gabe’s Call: Tucker by Submission (rear naked choke, 1:48 round 1) Gabe’s Recommended Play: Tucker (-160)
