Here are my live dogs: Welterweight bout: Randy “Rude Boy” Brown (-135) vs Belal “Remember the Name” Muhammad (+115) Gabe’s Thoughts: It has not been three months since Muhammad suffered a first round knockout at the hands of Vicente Luque at UFC 205, and here he is making a quick return to action without taking any time off. After getting his first taste of professional mixed martial arts career, the Duke Roufus trained fighter is eager to get back in the win column by taking out Brown on enemy territory. Brown is 2-0 since getting his own taste of defeat for the first time in his career and plans to extend that streak to three against Muhammad in front of his hometown crowd in Brooklyn. I think this fight comes down to Muhammad’s chin. If it holds up, he should win this. I think he is the superior mixed martial artist of the two and see him having advantages both on the feet and on the mat. He is the more technically sound striker and the better wrestler of the two. I think his best route to victory in this contest would be to employ his wrestling and use his ground and pound while keeping an eye out for submission opportunities. Coming off the knockout loss, I think he opts to take the safest route to victory by outwrestling Brown in this contest and looking for a stoppage on the mat. It would not surprise me to see him finish Brown, but I think more often than not, he takes this fight on the judges’ scorecards. Gabe’s Call: Muhammad by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) Gabe’s Recommended Play: Muhammad (+115) Flyweight bout: Wilson Reis (-700) vs Ulka Sasaki (+500) Gabe’s Thoughts: I think this 125-pound match-up is a lot closer than the betting odds suggest. I believe Sasaki is a live dog here and is capable of upsetting the Brazilian. It is worth noting that Sasaki is the biggest flyweight currently on the UFC’s roster, and I could see that serving as an advantage for him in this contest. At the current betting odds, I think it is undoubtedly a dog or pass situation and the dog looks mighty appealing to me. I’m going to take Sasaki for a value play, and not only that, I’ll also pick him to win. Gabe’s Call: Sasaki by Split Decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28) Gabe’s Recommended Play: Sasaki (+500) All of my content and plays are free. Your support is greatly appreciated.
