This Friday, ONE FC returns to action with a card from the Philippines that caters heavily to that combat sports crazed audience. We all know that Manny Pacquaio is the fighting pride of the Filipino community, but they also have a burgeoning MMA scene which ONE FC is looking to bolster. The card is headlined by ONE FC Featherweight Champion Honorio Banario defending his title for the first time against infamous UFC veteran Koji Oishi. Banario is one of four notable Filipino fighters on the card, as URCC champions Kevin Belingon, Eduard Folayang and Rey Docyogen are also in action. Along with being champions in the Philippines premiere MMA promotion, those four men are also teammates at Lakay MMA. None will have an easy road at ONE FC 9 however, as Belingon faces Masakatsu Ueda in the finals of the organization’s Bantamweight Grand Prix, while Folayang and Docyogen square off with UFC veterans Kamal Shalorus and Yasuhiro Urushitani, respectively. The card isn’t just limited to Filipino talent however, as highly ranked Bantamweight Bibiano Fernandes faces Koetsu Okazaki for the interim Bantamweight title and former UFC Heavyweight Champion Tim Sylvia takes on Tony Johnson. Today, MMA Oddsmaker Nick Kalikas opened the betting lines for ONE FC 9 at Several Bookmakers.
