Five Props is a column featured on MMAOddsBreaker.com after every major MMA event that highlights the biggest underdog prop bets to cash out from that card. Here are five UFC on FOX 23 prop bets that cashed big based on the closing odds at Several Bookmakers. 1) Valentina Shevchenko by Submission (+1000) Shevchenko surprised many and beat TUF 18 winner Julianna Pena at her own game and handed “The Venezuelan Vixen” the first official loss of her professional mixed martial arts career. The Ukrainian got the better of Pena in the grappling, scoring a couple of trip takedowns in the first round, and then submitting Pena off her back at the end of the second round, when it appeared Pena was starting to take over the fight. It was a very impressive performance by Shevchenko, who earns a rematch against Amanda Nunes, except this time it will be for the UFC Women’s Bantamweight title. Congratulations are due to those who wagered on Shevchenko winning this fight by submission, as the prop cashed out at a massive +1000! 2) Jorge Masvidal by T/KO (+450) Masvidal delivered what was arguably the best performance of his professional mixed martial arts career, where he distantled and TKO’d Donald Cerrone not once, but twice! Masvidal snapped Cerrone’s four fight winning streak at welterweight to make it three straight for himself, while allowing those who wagered on him to take “Cowboy” out by T/KO to cash out at an excellent +450. 3) Jason Knight by Submission (+375) Knight defeated Alex Caceres via rear naked choke submission towards the tail end of the second round of action. It was a great back and forth battle until the fight ending finish by Mississippi’s Knight. Following the victory, he used his post-fight speech to call out “Korean Superboy” Doo Ho Choi, and fight fans hope that one gets booked for a future fight card. Congrats to those who wagered on this prop, as you made out with a cool +375. 4) Sam Alvey by Decision (+401) Alvey defeated veteran Nate Marquardt via unanimous decision on the judges’ scorecards following three lackluster rounds of action. The victory made it four straight for Alvey inside the Octagon. Congratulations are in order to those who wagered on Smile’n Sam to take this fight on the judges’ scorecards, as the prop cashed out at a very nice +401. Extra congrats if you tailed me on the play, as I recommended it at +450 in my props article for the fight card. 5) Jason Gonzalez by Submission (+475) Gonzalez scored a Brabo choke submission of JC Cottrell in the opening round of their bout to pick up his first win in the UFC. It was a solid finish by Gonzalez, who requested a rematch with Drew Dober in his post-fight speech. Congratulations are in order to those who took him to win this fight by submission, as the prop cashed out at a sweet +475! A $100 parlay on these five props would have netted $827,775.
