The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) was in Phoenix, AZ for the third time in promotional history with UFC FIght Night 103: Rodriguez vs Penn. The night had it’s ups and downs, and after the event concluded, the UFC awarded $50,000 to two fighters for ‘Performance of the Night’ and two fighters for ‘Fight of the Night’. The lines to wager on these props were available at Several Bookmakers. The post-fight bonus winners for UFC Fight Night 95 were… Yair Rodriguez earns Performance of the Night (formerly, Knockout of the Night) Rodriguez dominated this bout and defeated the veteran Penn via TKO in the second round of action. Despite the victory, people are focused on how sad it was than how good Rodriguez looked. It was expected the fight would turn out this way, but everybody hoped it wouldn’t. Noteworthy T/KO(s): – Walt Harris defeated Chase Sherman via second round knockout to return to the win column in the UFC’s heavyweight division. – Joachim Christensen defeated Bojan Mihajlovic via third round TKO to pick up his first UFC victory. Oleksiy Oliynyk earns Performance of the Night (formerly, Submission of the Night) Oliynyk scored an Ezekiel choke submission from bottom mount position, which is incredibly impressive. It was the first Ezekiel choke in UFC history and the ninth by the Ukrainian in his professional mixed martial arts career. Scoring it from bottom mount position was just jaw-dropping, and I am not sure if that was a first for him. Noteworthy Submission(s): – Nina Ansaroff defeated Jocelyn Jones-Lybarger via third round rear naked choke. Augusto Mendes and Frankie Saenz earn Fight of the Night honors for their three round battle on the preliminary card of the evening, and when all was said and done, Mendes walked away with a razor-thin split decision victory. The Brazilian bounces back into the win column in an entertaining scrap that sees him add an extra 50k in his pocket. Noteworthy fight(s): – Ben Saunders defeated Court McGee via razor-thin unanimous decision.
