Fights to Avoid Betting for UFC Fight Night 103UFC Fight Night 103: Rodriguez vs. Penn Date: January 15, 2017 Arena: Talking Stick Resort Arena City: Phoenix AZ The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is back in Phoenix, AZ for the second time in promotional history this Sunday (January 15, 2017) with UFC Fight Night 103: Rodriguez vs. Penn. The 12-fight card is set to kick off with preliminary action at 6 p.m. (ET) on Fight Pass, and prelims will continue at 8 p.m. on FOX Sports 1. If interested in wagering on any bouts for this fight card, all betting lines will be made available at 5Dimes Sportsbook. My Fights to AVOID betting are: Welterweight bout bout: Ben Saunders (-115) vs. Court McGee (-105) Gabe's Thoughts: To put it simply, I think this is a tough fight to call, but I give Saunders a slight advantage on the feet and a big advantage on the mat, so I am going to lean with him for my official pick. But as far as a wager is concerned, I think this is a fight best avoiding at the sportsbook come fight night. Gabe's Call: Saunders by Submission (armbar, 3:55 round 1) Gabe's Recommended Play: AVOID Heavyweight bout: Walt Harris (-135) vs. Chase Sherman (+115) Gabe's Thoughts: I keep going back and forth as to who I side with for my official pick in this contest. I do think it will be a closely contested matchup in the UFC's heavyweight division, and both of these big boys really need a win here. There is no outcome to this fight that would shock me, aside from Harris out-grappling Sherman. I think Sherman in fact likely ends up out-grappling Harris for the majority of three rounds to pick up a unanimous decision win on the judges' scorecards, but he would have to avoid Harris' big power along the way. I could also see Harris finding success in keeping this fight on the feet and out-striking Sherman en route to a unanimous nod and potentially scoring a T/KO stoppage along the way. At the current betting odds, I see this fight as a clear "dog or pass" situation, and I cannot get myself to back to dog here, so this will ultimately be a fight I avoid at the sportsbook. Gabe's Call: Sherman by Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) Gabe's Recommended Play: AVOID All of my content and plays are free. Your support is greatly appreciated.
