UFC Fight Night 101: Whittaker vs Brunson Date: November 26, 2016 Arena: Rod Laver Arena City: Melbourne, Victoria, Australia The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) heads to Melbourne, Victoria, Australia for the second time in promotional history with UFC Fight Night 101: Whittaker vs Brunson. The event will be featuring a 13-fight card that is set to kick off with preliminary action on UFC Fight Pass at 6:30pm, and prelims will continue on FOX Sports 1 at 8pm, which will culminate into the main card on the same channel at 10pm. If interested in wagering on these plays, or any plays for this fight card, all betting lines will be made available at Several Bookmakers. Here are my live dogs: Lightweight bout: Jake Matthews (-300) vs Andrew Holbrook (+250) Gabe’s Thoughts: Putting it simply, I give Matthews a slight edge in this contest, however I do not agree with the current betting odds and think Holbrook holds some value at his current offering underdog price of +230. Both 155-pounders are coming off first round T/KO defeats and will be looking to return to the win column in impressive fashion. Gabe’s Call: Matthews by Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) Gabe’s Recommended Play: Holbrook (+250) 1.5u to win 3.75u Women’s Strawweight bout: Seo Hee Ham (-115) vs Danielle Taylor (-105) Gabe’s Thoughts: This is a match-up between two striker’s in the UFC’s women’s 105-pound division and I expect it to be a good one, likely taking place entirely on the feet. I think Taylor is the more dangerous striker of the two and is more capable of ending the fight, however she has been knocked out once in her career, while Ham never has. Ham’s lone TKO defeat came as a result of a doctor stoppage. She may have the better chin of the two, but Ham has never finished anybody by T/KO, so I believe Taylor definitely has the power advantage. “Dynamite” should win this fight as long as she lives up to her moniker and remains explosive throghout the contest, landing in volume and putting together effective combinations. Coming off a split decision loss to Maryna Moroz in her UFC debut, I like Taylor to rebound in this match-up and think it is her fight to lose. I think she should be a -170 betting favorite, so I like her for a play at her current price of -105. Gabe’s Call: Taylor by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) Gabe’s Recommended Play: Taylor (-105) 4.2u to win 4u
