Bellator 165 Closing Odds and Results

michael-chandlerBellator was back in action last night (Saturday, November 19, 2016) for its 165th event taking place in San Jose, California. The event featured a headlining bout with a lightweight title fight between champion Michael Chandler and former UFC champ Benson Henderson. Overall on the night, five betting favorites were victorious while no underdogs picked up wins based on Several Bookmakers‘s closing odds. Bellator 165 Favorites That Won In the main event of the evening, Michael Chandler and Benson Henderson put on a very entertaining five-round battle. Chandler crushed Henderson in the first round with superior strikes and wrestling, slowed down in the second to recharge, then came out strong to win the third and fourth rounds. Henderson threatened with a submission in the fifth round but couldn’t get the finish he needed as Chandler retained his title via split decision. Chandler pulled it out as a -165 (Bet $165 to win $100) favorite while Henderson lost as a +165 (Bet $100 to win $165) underdog. In a welterweight bout, Michael Page and Fernando Gonzalez put on an absolute snoozer. Gonzalez refused to engage in the first two rounds and Page resorted to taunting him, eventually winning a split decision in the biggest disappointment of the evening. Page won as a massive -470 favorite while Gonzalez lost at +415. In a lightweight affair, Adam Piccolotti was seemingly in cruise control against Brandon Girtz for the first two rounds but had to survive a late scare as Girtz blitzed him late in the third round. Girtz couldn’t get the finish, however, and Piccolotti held on to win a unanimous decision. Piccolotti was victorious as a -130 favorite while Girtz lost at +120. In a women’s flyweight attraction, Keri Anne Taylor-Melendez absolutely smoked Sheila Padilla. Melendez landed a big right hand which dropped Padilla and set up a TKO finish one strike later in the first minute. Taylor-Melendez came through as a -235 favorite while Padilla was +215. In the opening bout of the main card at light heavyweight, Linton Vassell absolutely dominated a seemingly uninterested Francis Carmont, securing top position for the majority of the bout and earning lopsided scores from the judges to win a unanimous decision. Vassell was a -135 favorite while Carmont was a +125 dog.   Bellator 165 Underdogs that Won None
