Fights to Avoid Betting for UFC 205 in NYC

Frankie EdgarUFC 205 Date: November 12, 2016 Arena: Madison Square Garden City: New York City, NY The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) heads to New York City for the first time in both promotional and mixed martial arts history for UFC 205. The stacked 13 fight card will get going on with preliminary action on UFC Fight Pass at 6:30pm ET. Preliminary action will continue on FOX Sports 1 at 8pm, leading into the Pay Per View main card at 10pm. If interested in wagering on any bouts for this fight card, all betting lines will be made available at Several Bookmakers. My Fights to AVOID betting are: Featherweight bout: Frankie Edgar (-340) vs Jeremy Stephens (+280) Gabe’s Thoughts: I could see Stephens stopping Edgar with strikes and feel that is a realistic outcome to this 145-pound match-up, however I think the most likely outcome is Edgar outstriking, and potentially outgrappling “Lil” Heathen” for the majorit of three rounds en route to a unanimous decision victory on the judges’ scorecards. I think Edgar should be a -250 betting favorite ehre, so I see no value in him at his current offering price of -340. I think this is a “dog or pass” situation and I am ultimately going to opt to pass on the dog. I say avoid this one at the sportsbooks this weekend. Gabe’s Call: Edgar by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) Gabe’s Recommended Play: AVOID Welterweight bout: Belal Muhammad (-165) vs Vicente Luque (+125) Gabe’s Thoughts: I think this fight is too close to call and do agree with Muhammad being slightly favored, though I personally think he should be -140. I see no value for either fighter at these odds and think this is a fight best left avoiding at the sportsbook this weekend. Muhammad is coming off a third round submission of Dodger Montano and Luque is coming off a first round knockout of Hector Urbina. Both 170-pounders have been looking impressive, and Luque looks to capitalize on this short notice opportunity, as he is stepping in for New York’s Lyman Good for this bout, since Good was pulled due to a positive drug test. Gabe’s Call: Muhammad by Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) Gabe’s Recommended Play: AVOID
