Cruz vs. Garbrandt title fight set as UFC 207 co-headliner, Borg vs. Smolka also added to the card UFC officials confirmed Monday with ESPN that Dominick Cruz will defend his bantamweight title against Cody Garbrandt in the co-main event of UFC 207. In addition, the Las Vegas Review Journal announced that flyweights Ray Borg and Louis Smolka will also clash this December 30th. Cruz (22-1) has won 13 fights in a row and heads into this matchup off a unanimous decision victory over Urijah Faber at UFC 199 in June. Garbrandt (10-0) is coming off an impressive first-round knockout victory over previously undefeated Brazilian Thomas Almeida at UFC Fight Night 88 in May. Smolka (11-2) is coming off an upset loss to Brandon Moreno at UFC Fight Night 96, which subsequently snapped his four-fight win streak. Borg (9-2) had his three-fight winning streak snapped in his last bout, losing to Justin Scoggnis at February’s UFC Fight Night 82 event. UFC 207 takes place in Las Vegas at the T-Mobile Arena. It is important to note that, under the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, there is a full fair legal review process that is afforded to all athletes before any sanctions are imposed. Consistent with all previous potential anti-doping violations, additional information or UFC statements will be provided at the appropriate time as the process moves forward.” Good (19-3) was slated to face Belal Muhammad and is 8-1 with a No-Contest in his last 10 fights. In addition, bantamweight champion Marlon Moraes will battle Josenaldo Silva. Branch (19-3) has tasted defeat since a 2012 unanimous decision loss to Anthony Johnson at Titan FC 22. The current middleweight and light heavyweight champion has won nine straight fights, including a unanimous-decision victory over Vinny Magalhães in his last outing. Taylor (13-3) also hasn’t lost since 2012 and comes into this fight on a six-fight win streak, including a victory over prospect Phil Hawes at WSOF 32. Also added to the card, UFC veteran Jared Rosholt (14-3) makes his promotional debut against Caio Alencar (9-1).
