Bellator 162’s Virgil Zwicker: ‘It’s been discouraging, trying to keep myself motivated’

MMAOddsBreaker’s Frank Trigg speaks with Bellator 162 heavyweight Virgil Zwicker as he prepares for his upcoming preliminary card bout this Friday night (October 21, 2016) against Dan Charles at the FedEx Forum in Memphis, Tennessee.

The San Diego native discusses what it’s like to wait for a fight in Bellator along with how ring rust affects him:

“I’ve been waiting for a year since my last fight. It’s been discouraging, trying to keep myself motivated. Trying to keep myself going. I’m one of those guys, always on the hustle, always trying to keep myself motivated. And the way I keep myself motivated is by fighting. If there’s a name in front of me, I’m that much better. If there’s not, I’ll make every excuse in the world not to go through the everyday ins and outs of a fight camp. That’s just who I am. Ring rust is one thing. I just need to be punched in the face, and it’s gone. For me, I like that.”
