UFC 207 Opening Odds for Ronda Rousey vs Amanda Nunes

nunesvrouseyDate: December 30, 2016 Location: Las Vegas, Nevada Venue: T-Mobile Arena Broadcast: PPV After over a year away from the sport, mixed martial arts superstar Ronda Rousey will return to action this December 30 when she challenges current UFC women’s bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes for the title in the main event of UFC 207. The last time we saw Rousey in action, she was getting her head kicked in by Holly Holm in the main event of UFC 193 in Australia. The women’s bantamweight title has played pinball, moving from Holm to Miesha Tate and then from Tate to Nunes via first-deround submission in the main event of UFC 200 earlier this summer. Rousey has remained in the headlines thanks to rumors swirling about whether or not she would ever fight again. Those rumors were put to rest earlier today when UFC President Dana White announced her upcoming return. The betting line was released by MMA Oddsmaker Nick Kalikas moments ago via ESPN. Here’s what Kalikas had to say about the fight:

After a one-year absence, former women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey is returning to the Octagon this December for the first time since losing her title to Holly Holm. Her opponent will be the new champion Amanda Nunes, who presents several of the same problems that Holm did thanks to her powerful stand-up striking. Before her loss, Rousey had an era of dominance unmatched by nearly any fighter across any other division, finishing opponents with ease both standing and on the ground. That being said, there are many question marks surrounding her now that she’s not only been defeated, but been knocked out. This fight will boil down to who can utilize their strengths the most? Will Nunes be able to keep this fight upright and do damage? Can Rousey close the distance with power or judo throws? Rousey is still one of, if not the most popular fighters of the modern era so she’s still going to open as a -280 favorite here while Nunes will be a +220 underdog.
