Here are my quick thoughts on the UFC 300 Opening Odds:
- The main event of UFC 300 features the UFC light heavyweight title on the line when Alex Pereira takes on Jamahal Hill. Pereira is coming off back-to-back wins over Jiri Prochazka and Jan Blachowicz since moving up to 205 lbs. He was the UFC middleweight champion before that, so he has been ultra-impressive in two weight classes now. As for Hill, he never lost his belt in the Octagon, instead giving it up due to injury. Hill has won his last four fights in a row, so he enters this fight with quite a bit of momentum. It makes sense that Pereira is the favorite in this fight given how good he has looked at 205 lbs, but don’t count out Hill for an upset here.
- The co-main event of UFC 300 sees Weili Zhang take on Yan Xiaonan for the UFC women’s strawweight title. Zhang has won her last three fights and has looked great in the Octagon as of late. As for Xiaonan, she is coming off two straight wins. I don’t think you should completely discount the possibility of a Xiaonan upset here, but Zhang is the champion and she fully deserves her favorite status here.
