Here are my quick thoughts on the UFC Vegas 62 Opening Odds:
- The headliner of UFC Vegas 62 features top-10-ranked women’s flyweights Alexa Grasso and Viviane Araujo. Grasso is currently riding a three-fight win streak at 125lbs, with a finish over veteran Joanne Wood her last time out. On the other hand, Araujo is coming off of a decision win over Andrea Lee and overall she has been impressive inside the Octagon. This looks like it should be a competitive fight that likely goes to the scorecards. Given Grasso’s experience inside the Octagon and her youth advantage, she opened up as the betting favorite here.
- The co-main event sees Cub Swanson drop down to 135lbs for the first time in his MMA career when he takes on Jonathan Martinez. At age 38, it’s surprising to see Swanson make this move down to bantamweight so late in his career. That being said, if the weight cut goes well, he immediately becomes a fresh contender at 135lbs. As for Martinez, he’s won three straight fights and on the whole, he has looked great in the UFC. This is a very interesting fight that should be very entertaining to watch. The younger Martinez opened up as the favorite, but don’t completely count out Swanson.
