Here are my quick thoughts on the UFC Des Moines Opening Odds:
- In the main event of UFC Des Moines, we have a five-round bantamweight bout between Cory Sandhagen and Deiveson Figueiredo. Sandhagen is coming off a decision loss to Umar Nurmagomedov in his last fight that snapped a three-fight win streak. As for Figueiredo, he lost to Petr Yan in his last outing, which snapped a three-fight win streak for himself. This should be an excellent fight, but given how much experience Sandhagen has at the top of the UFC bantamweight division, he opened up as the betting favorite in this main event fight.
- In the co-main event, Bo Nickal battles Reiner de Ridder at middleweight. Since he joined the UFC two years ago, de Ridder has done nothing but win, going 4-0 with three stoppage wins. In his last fight, he stepped up in competition and beat Paul Craig. As for de Ridder, he is 2-0 in the Octagon with submission wins over Gerald Meerschaert and Kevin Holland. This is the toughest fight of Nickal’s UFC career so far, but given how he has never tasted defeat yet in the Octagon, the oddsmakers still opened him up as a clear favorite to get his hand raised.
