Here are my quick thoughts on the UFC London Opening Odds:
- In the main event of UFC London, former UFC welterweight champion Leon Edwards takes on Sean Brady, who is filling in on short notice for Jack Della Maddalena. Edwards is coming off a loss to the current champion, Belal Muhammad, while Brady beat Gilbert Burns and Kelvin Gastelum in his last two fights. The oddsmakers opened up Edwards as the betting favorite, but the odds have flipped, and Brady is now locked in as a small favorite.
- In the co-main event, we have Carlos Ulberg taking on Jan Blachowicz at light heavyweight. Ulberg lost his UFC debut, but he has since won seven fights in a row to become a serious contender at 205 lbs. Now, he takes on Blachowicz, the former UFC light heavyweight champion. Blachowicz has not fought in nearly two years since a split decision loss to Alex Pereira. Before that, he had a split draw with Magomed Ankalaev, so there is no shame in those two results against the two best fighters in the weight class. Still, Blachowicz is now 42 years old, and given all of the time off, it makes sense that Ulberg opened up as the favorite.
