Here are my quick thoughts on the UFC Kansas City Opening Odds:
- In the main event of UFC Kansas City, welterweights Ian Machado Garry and Carlos Prates meet for five or fewer rounds. Machado Garry is coming off a close loss to Shavkat Rakhmonov, which showed he is one of the best fighters in the division despite losing. As for Prates, he is 4-0 with four knockout wins in the UFC. This is a tricky fight to predict just based on the fact that Prates is getting a step up in competition, but at the same time, it’s difficult to doubt this man.
- In the co-main event, we have a battle of light heavyweights as Anthony Smith fights for the final time in the UFC against Zhang Mingyang. Smith has been one of the top light heavyweights in the UFC for the better part of the last decade, but he has lost his last two fights in a row and looked pretty bad in both of them. Mingyang, meanwhile, has a long winning streak going on at the moment and is 2-0 in the UFC with two brutal knockout wins. Just based on where their careers are going, you have to pick Mingyang to win this fight.
