Here are my quick thoughts on the UFC Vegas 103 Opening Odds:
- In the main event of UFC Vegas 103, Manel Kape fights Asu Almabayev in an important flyweight fight. Kape is 5-3 overall in the UFC but he is 5-1 over his last six fights, including a vicious knockout over Bruno Silva in his last outing. As for Almabayev, he is undefeated in the UFC with a perfect 4-0 record. The oddsmakers opened up Kape as a big betting favorite, but Almabayev is talented enough to make this fight closer than the odds look.
- In the co-main event, Julian Marquez takes on Cody Brundage at middleweight in what may be a last-chance fight for both men. Marquez has lost his last three fights by knockout and has not won inside the Octagon since submitting Sam Alvey in 2021. After starting his UFC career 3-1, Marquez now holds a 3-4 UFC record. As for Brundage, he is 4-5, 1 NC overall in the UFC and he is winless in his last two fights. This may very well be the last chance Brundage has to keep his job on the UFC roster. Honestly, this fight looks like a complete toss-up, and it should likely be lined closer to a Pick ’em than Marquez opening as a 2-to-1 betting favorite.
