Here are my quick thoughts on the UFC 308 Opening Odds:
- The main event of UFC 308 sees UFC featherweight champion Ilia Topuria against Max Holloway. Topuria is a perfect 7-0 in the UFC and he won the title in his last fight when he brutally knocked out Alexander Volkanovski. As for Holloway, he is riding a three-fight win streak which includes an insane knockout win over Justin Gaethje in his last fight. Holloway is one of the greatest featherweights of all time, but Topuria is the champ for a reason.
- The co-main event features Robert Whittaker taking on Khamzat Chimaev in a potential title eliminator at 185 lbs. Whittaker has won his last two fights over Ikram Aliskerov and Paulo Costa to bounce back after a brutal knockout upset loss to Dricus Du Plessis. As for Chimaev, he is coming off a majority decision win over Kamaru Usman and he is a perfect 7-0 in the UFC. Chimaev has been highly touted ever since first entering the Octagon four years ago, but he has failed to stay healthy and barely fights anymore. It is understandable why Chimaev is favored here, but Whittaker has all of the tools to pull off the big upset here in this spot.
