Here are my quick thoughts on the UFC 307 Opening Odds:
- The main event of UFC 307 sees UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira defend his title against surprise challenger Khalil Rountree Jr. Pereira is currently riding a four-fight win streak, having knocked out his last three opponents. He has emerged as one of the biggest superstars the UFC has on the roster right now and the promotion has been keeping him busy as this is his third fight in 2024 alone. As for Rountree Jr., he has won his last five fights in a row with four of those wins coming by way of knockout. This should be an awesome fight that ends with a vicious knockout either way. Pereira is a huge betting favorite here, which makes sense given his championship pedigree, but stylistically, Rountree has a puncher’s chance.
- Also on the card is UFC women’s bantamweight champion Raquel Pennington taking on former champion Julianna Pena. Pennington has won her last six fights in a row including winning the vacant title against Mayra Bueno Silva in her last bout. As for Pena, she has not fought in two years since a brutal loss to Amanda Nunes. Pena is as tough as they come, but Pennington is the champ and she has earned her favorite status in this bout.
